Welcome to the Sittingbourne Mill Website
This site celebrates the history of Sittingbourne Mill and is a source of
contact for anyone who has ever worked at Sittingbourne Mill.
The site is split into two sections. The first part is to celebrate the mill's history in words and pictures. In the Gallery section there are pictures of the mill from the 1890's to the closure in 2007. In the History section we look at 300 years of paper making in Sittingbourne. There will also be opportunities for you to contribute over the next few months with photos and memories of your time at the mill. Please see the "New and Planned" sections below to see what is happening.
The second section is for members only and anyone who has worked in the mill at any time can become a member. So far we have over 150 members! Once a member you can view what people are doing now in the Members Now Section. If you have yet to join please do, and if you have already joined and know of anyone else who used to work at the mill and would like to join please tell them about the site. Also the Jobs Section continues, if you hear of any suitable jobs then please fill out the online form.
News: Christmas Reunion
Mark O’Gallagher and Gary Wood are going to try and arrange a Christmas Reunion for those that would like to meet up with old
friends from the Mill at Downtown Victoria’s on the A20 near Harrietsham,
Maidstone on either the 15th or 22nd December.
To find out more click here to view the invitation letter.
Update: Unfortunately due to lack of response the Christmas reunion will not be going ahead at Downtown Victoria's.
If you have any reunions planned then let me know the date, time and venue and I will post it on the site. Email me at ian@sittingbournemill.co.uk.
Website Progress Delayed!!
During June and July I have been moving to my new job in Guildford working for the Cyclist Touring Club. This has ment I have not been able to work on the website as I had hoped. Now that I have started to settle in I plan to start work again on the website. If all goes to plan you should start to see some of the changes planned below in September.

Planned for the Future
Complete the history section - The history of the Sittingbourne Paper Company/UK Paper years .
Send Us Your Photos! - You will be able to upload any pictures you have of the mill
or the people who worked in the mill for our Gallery pages.
Forum - This will allow people to arrange reunions, record their experiences and memories.
People of Sittingbourne Mill - Bob Humphries is looking to write a book recording the stories
of the people of Sittingbourne Mill (rather than the history of the machines). There will be a section
on the forum for this and you will also be able to email Bob direct with your memories.
I hope you enjoy the site.
